Annie Leonard of Story of Stuff is coming to Turkey!

Beginning of this year I watched "Story of Stuff" and suddenly it was so clear what was going on in the world. This 20-minute film with a simple yet powerful language marked a moment of transformation and clarity in my life: the way we are producing and consuming is destroying the Earth hence ourselves and it's not sustainable. More important, as a consumer I hold incredible power in making informed consumption choices, therefore I need to use this power wisely.

Story of Stuff was the inspiration for the sustainable living film festival we are organizing.

Written by Annie Leonard, the film was produced by Free Range Studios the makers of other socially-minded, web-based films such as “The Meatrix” and “Grocery Store Wars.” Funding for the project came from The Sustainability Funders and Tides Foundation.

Annie Leonard is an expert in international sustainability and environmental health issues, with more than 20 years of experience investigating factories and dumps around the world. Coordinator of the Funders Workgroup for Sustainable Production and Consumption, a funder collaborative working for a sustainable and just world, Annie communicates worldwide about the impact of consumerism and materialism on global economies and international health.

Well, this amazing woman is now coming to Turkey!!! She'll be in Turkey for a conference at the end of May and we, sustainable living collective, are organizing a Story of Stuff screening where Annie will be attending to talk about the global materials economy and its impact on the Earth and the people. Join us if you want to meet Annie in person!

The screening will happen the weekend of May 31-June 1 in Istanbul. I will announce the time and the venue here in a few days.
